SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Product Specialist is a critical role responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and oversight of Curio Wellness's standard operating procedures (SOPs) at external licensing partners' facilities nationwide. Reporting to the Director of External Licensing, this specialist will serve as a trusted expert in manufacturing processes, training, and quality assurance.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Set up of external licensing partners’ facilities in accordance with Curio Wellness standards and criteria set forth by the state’s cannabis regulatory body.
  • Process Auditing: Conduct thorough audits of external licensing partners' facilities to ensure compliance with Curio Wellness's SOPs, quality standards, and local regulations.
  • SOP Development and Implementation: Write, update, and maintain SOPs for the Curio Operating Excellence Program (COPEX) related to manufacturing in assigned markets. Ensure proper implementation of SOPs at partner facilities.
  • Training and Development: Train external licensing partners' teams on proprietary manufacturing processes, quality control, and compliance requirements. Support leadership in Curio’s own facilities, as needed, on our proprietary manufacturing processes, quality control, and compliance requirements.
  • Product Validation: Conduct test batches of products to validate that partner facilities meet Curio Wellness's standards for equipment, materials, and ingredients.
  • Quality Assurance: Set the standard for quality and consistency in products produced by licensing partners. Conduct testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality.  Support leadership in Curio’s own facilities, as needed, to assure that adherence to Quality is our team’s top priority.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including state-specific cannabis product regulations and good manufacturing practices (cGMP).  Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information, documents, and materials.
  • Environmental Management: Oversee environmental practices, including sanitation, swabbing, and waste disposal.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead process improvements, ensure efficient operations, and maintain a culture of professionalism and business ethics.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • The ideal candidate will embrace a mindset of Extreme Ownership, taking full responsibility for their contributions and driving positive outcomes.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time – including overnight stays.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, with a strong preference for experience in confections or edibles, tableting, topicals, smokeables, and/or vape production.
  • Experience in infused-cannabis production is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, including coaching and mentoring.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and LEAN manufacturing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
  • Able to use critical thinking to troubleshoot issues, work collaboratively with a team to brainstorm solutions, and implement improvement solutions.
  • Self-motivation and a results-oriented mindset
  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control function preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                              

Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance. This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will require in-direct influence and relationships with partner’s staff.

 

Education and Experience:                                                    

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 3+ years of Manufacturing quality experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
