The Analytical Chemist I will perform routine chemical extractions and testing of consumable products using industry-accepted practices and instrumentation.  This position reports to the Lead Chemist.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Operation and PM of HPLC, GC-FID, and UV-VIS Spectrophotometer instrumentation.
  • Method development and validation.
  • Management of sample inventory, sample analysis, data processing, and reporting.
  • Compliance to cGLP and ISO 17025 testing laboratory requirements.
  • Under guidance of senior staff, provide training to other staff on laboratory tasks.
  • General laboratory upkeep includes supply management and record organization.
  • LEAN management tasks, including daily reporting of laboratory activities.
  • Hazardous material handling

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Experience in analytical instrumentation operation, such as HPLC, GC-FID, or UV-Vis spectrophotometry (can be academic only).
  • Familiarity with wet chemistry testing methods such as pH, moisture content, and water activity analysis.
  • Basic understanding of chromatography principles (retention time, peak integration, calibration curves).
  • Familiarity with GLP/GMP practices and regulated laboratory environments; exposure to ISO 17025 requirements is a plus.
  • Strong in MS Excel.
  • Experience with laboratory data systems or LIMS is a plus.
  • Comfort with laboratory calculations, including dilution factors, unit conversions, and %RSD.
  • Basic understanding of method validation concepts (accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD/LOQ) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OSHA laboratory safety practices and SDS/chemical hygiene procedures.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                              

No direct supervisory responsibility for others. 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BS) or four (4) years of equivalent job-related experience. BSAS, preferably in life sciences.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. 

Comfortable working in a secure, regulated environment.
