The Packaging Supervisor oversees all finished goods packaging activities.  This role will be responsible for the training, development, and oversite of all packaging personnel on the shift.  This position will be required to partner closely with the production planning team to ensure appropriate execution of the daily/weekly pack schedule to deliver the highest quality products to our customers in a timely fashion.  Additionally, this person will be responsible for driving improvements within the department as it pertains to safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Set up work cells according to standard work layout and stock the materials necessary to achieve daily production goals.
  • Ensure that the team executes work with adherence to the provided packaging schedule and regularly report out on the team’s attainment.
  • Document and monitor productivity metrics and take appropriate action to ensure that the team meets the goals.
  • Participate in and contribute to the overall packaging planning activities (in partnership with Planning Team) for the site on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Ensure that all packaging operations and personnel fully comply with Safety, 5S, cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), Quality, and Compliance standards.
  • Accurately complete & review production related documents (batch records, 5S sheets, hour by hour boards, inventory counting sheets, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Conduct ERP system transactions accurately, as required.
  • Comply with all equipment operating procedures and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Take direct action to correct any process deviations and participate in root cause analysis, as required.
  • Train associates according to company policies and standard work procedures.
  • Execute timecard entries and adjustments on a daily basis
  • Monitor attendance and performance of personnel. Provide timely feedback and disciplinary action as required.   
  • Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities in daily operations.
  • Promote a positive work culture, with a focus on Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Recognition.
  • Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure.
  • Using computers and computer systems to write, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and packaging paperwork.
  • Ensuring all prioritized and planned work is carried out timely and efficiently.
  • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings – Monitoring and reviewing information from materials or processes to detect or assess problems.
  • Coaching and Developing Teammates – Identifying the developmental needs of direct reports and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Communicating with Superiors, Peers, and Subordinates – Providing information to subordinates, direct reports, and co-workers in written form, email, or in person
  • Thinking Creatively – Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products in collaboration with the Production Manager.
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.  This position will be responsible for adjusting and complying with these changes.
  • May be asked to stay later than the scheduled shift or work weekends to meet the weekly output goals if needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with cGMP or similar certifications.
  • Trained in performance management and coaching.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and can quickly adapt to change.
  • Familiarity with various types of automated and manual packaging processes would be beneficial.  

Education and Experience:                                                    

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
