The Cultivation Quality Technician supports the cultivation team by auditing and inspecting the cultivation facility to ensure there are ideal growing conditions and that procedures and policies are being followed. This person executes cultivation quality management systems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for adhering to and improving the Cultivation Quality Management Systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring GMP, GAP, and GACP standards are developed and followed throughout the facility, especially facility cleanliness and employee personal hygiene practices.
  • Partner with the Cultivation organization to implement Quality Kaizens.
  • Responsible for departmental non-conformances, corrective action plans, coaching, and tracking.
  • Execution and management of microbial testing and daily swabbing program.
  • Auditing of 5S and SOPs
  • Adhering to the MCA, Department of Agriculture, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Environmental monitoring - collection of environmental data (temp, humidity, CO2, valve, PAR, light intensity, door sheet availability, feed) taken with CO2 reader & room Argus meters, 5s monitoring and capturing, follow up with resolution, 5s sheet revisions and supplementation. 
  • Flower weight QC & batch record sign offs 
  • Execution of air quality - sampling, submission, data analysis, presentation, schedule, cultivar QC - “aseptic” crop sampling, submission to analytical and data analysis. 
  • Responsible for recording and communicating departmental non-conformances.
  • Checking the quality of tasks – Auditing work performed by the cultivation and harvest teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that records are kept in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality
  • Responsible for the inspection of incoming material
  • Implementation/monitoring of sanitation practices and environmental swabbing
  • Management and disposal of non-conforming material (green waste)

  • Experience working as a Quality Technician with a solid understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • GMP, GAP, & GACP exposure
  • Experience creating, coaching, & tracking corrective action plans.
  • Audit experience with 5S and SOPs.
  • Experience with testing air quality, including sampling, submission, data analysis, presentation, schedule, cultivar, etc.
  • Ability to check the quality of tasks such as transplants, irrigation, plant issues, etc.
  • Preferred Lean and previous Quality Assurance experience.          
  • Prior agriculture or cultivation experience

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                              

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Education and Experience:                                                    

Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BS) in Biology, Life Science, plant science, or related subject, and two (2) years of equivalent job-related experience; or equivalent of education and experience.
