SUMMARY: We are looking for a strategic, consumer-obsessed Director of Brand Management to lead the growth of our Best-Self Collection of condition-specific cannabis products. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in traditional CPG brand building—across insights, innovation, marketing, and go-to-market strategy—combined with the curiosity and agility to thrive in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.

This leader will own brand strategy, positioning, and integrated marketing execution, as well as influencing innovation roadmaps. As a key voice at the intersection of consumer, product, and sales teams, you will drive brand equity, consumer loyalty, and revenue growth across channels.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Brand Strategy & Positioning

 

  • Develop and steward long-term brand strategies rooted in consumer insight, market trends, and competitive differentiation.
  • Translate brand strategy into actionable annual plans including communications, product development, and channel execution.
  • Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, visual identity, and positioning across all touchpoints.

Innovation & Product Portfolio

  • Own and brand portfolio strategy in collaboration with Product Innovation, Sales, and Compliance.
  • Lead concept development, validation, packaging strategy, and go-to-market planning for new product launches.
  • Optimize existing SKUs for performance and consumer relevance.

Consumer & Market Insights

  • Champion a data-informed approach by leveraging syndicated data, consumer research, and in-market performance to inform decision-making.
  • Identify and size market opportunities; assess brand health and campaign effectiveness.

Go-to-Market Leadership

  • Collaborate with Sales, Retail, and Field Marketing teams to ensure brand strategies are executed with excellence at the shelf and in digital environments.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment for launch plans and brand activations.
  • Guide performance marketing, content, and experiential efforts to reflect brand objectives and drive conversion.

Team & Budget Management

  • Lead and mentor members of the cross functional to build a high-performing team.
  • Manage brand budgets, ensuring ROI-positive decision-making and efficient resource allocation.

Regulatory & Category Leadership

  • Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure marketing programs, packaging, and claims meet state-specific cannabis regulations.
  • Serve as a brand steward in helping to shape responsible cannabis communication practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in brand management or marketing at a CPG company. Experience in the Health & Wellness space preferred and general cannabis knowledge a plus but not required
  • Proven success in building brands, launching products, and owning P&L responsibilities
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen; ability to translate data into actionable brand strategy
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience leading consumer research, segmentation, and brand tracking
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in highly regulated categories (e.g., alcohol, supplements, OTC, pharma)
  • Exposure to retail, wholesale and DTC business models
  • Familiarity with marketing in constrained media environments (e.g., limited digital advertising options)

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. 

Comfortable working in a secure, regulated environment.
