The Senior Analyst, FP&A provides critical financial and operational insight across a vertically integrated cannabis business spanning cultivation, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail. This role supports commercial decision-making through competitive market intelligence, sales forecasting, and demand planning and leads core budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis processes. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, business acumen, and the ability to navigate a rapidly evolving, highly regulated industry.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Management Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial performance packages for senior leadership, providing variance analysis and KPI insights across key cost centers and business units.
  • Lead components of the annual budget, long-range plan, and monthly/quarterly forecast processes across cultivation, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail channels.
  • Identify emerging operational or market-driven risks and opportunities, including price compression, category shifts, competitive disruption, and regulatory changes.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

Competitive Market Landscape Analysis

  • Monitor cannabis market trends, competitive activity, category performance, pricing movements, consumer demand shifts, and regulatory developments across key markets.
  • Conduct wholesale and retail market-share analyses using internal and external data sources (e.g., Headset, BDSA, state regulatory data).
  • Benchmark competitive pricing and product assortment; identify strengths, vulnerabilities, and whitespace opportunities.
  • Integrate market trends and competitive insights into forecasts, business reviews, and strategic planning.

Sales Forecasting and Demand Planning

  • Build and maintain sales forecasting models for both wholesale and retail channels, incorporating volume, price/mix, strain mix, margin dynamics, and promotional plans.
  • Monitor in-period sales trends, category performance, competitive actions, and retail traffic patterns to update forecasts and identify variances.
  • Provide data-driven guidance to Sales leadership on channel targets, account performance, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop and refine demand forecasts by integrating sell-in (wholesale), sell-through (retail), production schedules, inventory availability, and market trends.
  • Support S&OP processes, ensuring operational readiness and alignment to sales forecasts, inventory health, and regulatory constraints.

Business Partnership

  • Act as a financial partner to leadership across Cultivation, Manufacturing, Retail, Sales, and Product.
  • Assist in pricing decisions, promotional planning, and SKU portfolio optimization.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial insight to support operational performance management, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance.

  • 3–6 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or analytical roles; cannabis, manufacturing, CPG, retail, or agriculture experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with expertise in Excel; experience with FP&A tools beneficial.
  • Demonstrated capability in forecasting, market analysis, demand planning, or sales analytics.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated industry.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear insights for business partners.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education and Experience:                                                    

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; MBA or CPA preferred.
